Cracked display help in Westgate
iPhone Screen Replacement Westgate Auckland
A cracked top layer, failed touch input and damaged OLED or LCD are related but not identical problems. The useful question is not simply “how much is a screen?” but which assembly fits the exact iPhone and what other impact damage must be addressed for a reliable result.

Answer first
What to know before choosing a repair
MoboPlus assesses iPhone screen damage at its Westgate, Auckland store. We confirm the iPhone model, test the visible image and touch response where possible, inspect the frame and explain the supported screen-replacement route before work begins. Quotes depend on the model, display route, condition and part availability.
01 · Before you keep using it
Protect your hands, data and phone after a screen break
If glass is loose, sharp or shedding fragments, stop pressing the damaged area and keep the device away from children. A cracked screen can deteriorate with flexing or another impact, but no website can determine the internal condition from the crack pattern alone.
If the phone is hot, swollen, wet, bent or showing a gap between the screen and frame, stop charging it and arrange an assessment. A lifted display can be caused by impact, frame distortion or an expanding battery and should not simply be pushed closed.
- Back up important data if the display remains safely usable.
- Avoid liquid exposure; damaged seals and openings increase risk.
- Do not use adhesive, pressure or heat to force a lifting display into place.
- Tell us whether the image, touch, Face ID, earpiece or proximity behaviour changed after the damage.
02 · Read the symptoms
What the display is telling you
Two phones with similar cracks can need different work. We check the complete symptom set and frame before confirming a replacement route.
| Symptom | What it can indicate | Assessment focus |
|---|---|---|
| Cracked glass but normal image and touch | Surface damage with the panel still functioning | Exact model, crack depth, edges, frame and available assembly route |
| Green/white lines, ink patches or flicker | OLED/LCD panel damage beneath the glass | Image stability, impact point, connector area and frame pressure |
| Touch misses, ghosts or works only in some areas | Digitiser, panel, connector or frame-related fault | Full-screen touch grid, edge input and signs of distortion |
| Black screen while the phone rings or vibrates | Display or display-connection failure | Power signs, external damage and a controlled display assessment |
| Screen lifts away from the frame | Bent frame, broken clips, adhesive failure or battery swelling | Stop pressing it closed; inspect the battery and housing before screen work |
03 · Avoid a one-size quote
Three decisions behind an iPhone screen repair
A responsible quote states what assembly is proposed, what the inspection found and what the customer should expect from the completed phone.
Display assembly replacement
- Often fits when
- The display image or touch layer is damaged, or the supported repair route for the model uses a complete bonded assembly.
- Check first
- Ask about display characteristics, expected system messages, related sensor tests and the condition of the frame.
Screen plus frame-related work
- Often fits when
- The edge is bent, dented or no longer holds the screen evenly after impact.
- Check first
- A new display fitted to a distorted housing can remain under stress. The physical structure should be discussed before fitting parts.
Further diagnosis before a screen
- Often fits when
- The phone has no signs of power, liquid exposure, several failed functions or damage inconsistent with a display-only fault.
- Check first
- Replacing the visible broken part may not restore a phone with a deeper power, board or corrosion issue.
04 · Judge the result by function
What should be checked around a replacement display
A bright home screen is not a complete test. The most useful checks cover the replaced assembly, the frame and functions positioned near the display.
Display and input
- Image is stable across light and dark content.
- Touch registers across the centre, corners and keyboard edges.
- Brightness changes consistently and no obvious colour patch is present.
- The display wakes, sleeps and rotates as expected.
Fit and nearby functions
- Screen sits evenly without a new gap or pressure point.
- Earpiece, front camera and proximity behaviour are checked where accessible.
- Buttons and charging still operate normally after reassembly.
- Existing frame, rear-glass or liquid damage is recorded separately.
05 · From crack to collection
How a model-specific screen assessment works
Screen pricing and fit depend on the exact model, not only the marketing family. Share the model before visiting if you want part availability checked.
-
Confirm the exact iPhone
We identify the model and ask about earlier screen work, because outwardly similar devices can use different panels and repair processes.
-
Record the pre-repair condition
Where safe, image, touch, cameras, earpiece, proximity behaviour, buttons and charging are checked. Cracks, bends and gaps are noted.
-
Inspect the impact path
The frame and corners are checked for damage that could affect fit. A lifted display also prompts a battery and housing check.
-
Confirm the proposed work
The quote should identify the supported repair, expected outcome, part availability and any unresolved risks before disassembly.
-
Fit, reassemble and test
After supported work, the display and related functions are tested against the pre-repair notes, and remaining unrelated damage is explained.
06 · Set realistic expectations
Questions worth asking before you approve the screen
Clear answers are more valuable than labels such as “premium” or “OEM-grade”, which can be used inconsistently. Ask for model-specific facts you can understand.
What display route is being quoted?
Ask what will be replaced and what visible or functional differences, if any, are expected for brightness, colour, touch response and system reporting.
Will a part message appear?
Supported iPhone models can show Parts and Service History information. The result depends on the model, part and repair process, so it should be discussed without promising a particular message.
What damage is outside the quote?
A bent frame, damaged rear housing, failed sensor, liquid exposure or board fault may be separate from the screen. Ask that these conditions be identified before additional work.
How should the phone be treated around liquid?
Do not assume factory liquid resistance after impact or opening. Seals, age and housing damage all affect resistance, and no screen repair should be sold as permission to expose the phone to water.
Quote clarity
Why the exact model and fault matter
A useful quote starts with your exact iPhone model and a description of the fault. Contact MoboPlus to discuss the proposed repair, what the quote includes, current parts availability and estimated completion time before visiting.
Not sure of the model? Use Apple’s iPhone model-identification guide. If the damaged phone cannot be used safely, tell us the model is uncertain.
- Exact iPhone model
- Glass-only appearance versus image or touch failure
- Frame bends, gaps, rear damage or battery swelling
- Previous screen repair and current system information
- Supported display route and part availability
Questions answered
iPhone Screen FAQ
Clear, conditional answers are more useful than promises that ignore the model or damage.
Does cracked iPhone glass always require the same repair?
No. The glass, touch layer and OLED/LCD form a closely integrated display system, and available repair routes vary by model. Image, touch, frame and crack condition should be assessed before the work is confirmed.
Can a black iPhone screen still be a screen fault if the phone rings?
Yes. Calls, sounds or vibrations show that part of the phone is operating and make a display-related fault plausible, but the connector, impact damage and other power conditions still need to be checked.
Will Face ID and True Tone definitely work after screen replacement?
Those outcomes should not be guaranteed without knowing the model, existing damage, component route and repair process. Ask what will be tested and what system behaviour is expected for your exact iPhone.
Is a repaired iPhone screen waterproof?
Do not treat it as waterproof. Impact, age, frame condition, earlier repairs and opening the device all affect sealing. Avoid deliberate liquid exposure even when the phone originally carried a water-resistance rating.
Should I back up an iPhone with a broken screen?
Yes, if it can be done safely and the phone remains controllable. Do not keep handling loose glass, a swollen device or a wet phone solely to make a backup; explain that data is important when you bring it in.
How do I request an iPhone screen quote from MoboPlus?
Send the exact model, photos of the front and frame, and describe image and touch behaviour. You can also bring the phone to Shop 2/12 Maki Street in Westgate for a physical assessment.
